Step 1

A Smile Analysis

A smile is unique to that individual. An attractive smile is one that is part of a harmonious whole. This means the shape and size of the face, eyes, nose, lips all play a part in determining the right smile for you. Even your personality would play a part as smiles can convey strength, gentleness, femininity, masculinity, openness. The shape, size and angulation of your teeth can make enhance these traits. That is why there will be photos taken, many, many photos to help us determine what is right for you.

Step 2

Designing Your New Smile

Using the original models of your teeth, a special wax is used to sculpt and shape the model to reflect the changes we would propose for you. You are shown the new model and a discussion and decisions are made regarding the smile you want.

We can also make a master smile design where different 'smiles' are sketched for you to see the shape and arrangements that are possible for your face and to choose the one that you most like. Based on your choice, a wax model is made and then trial teeth are produced to mimic the chosen smile design.

Step 3

Trying on Your New Smile

At this visit temporary teeth are very carefully contructed to give a glimpse of the final smile. Temporaries are very important not just to protect the teeth while waiting for the final veneers but also to enable us to evaluate, adjust and reassess your smile and the expected results. Many more photos are taken at this stage for further study.

There is not to be any guess work here! This procedure is absolutely painless as the adjustment will be carried out on the temporaries itself. You will be able to see for yourself, the effects of the adjustments and to give your feedback on what your preferences are.

Step 4

Your Brand New Smile

Each veneer is carefully bonded to the tooth with an extremely strong bonding material. They are then cleaned and adjusted and you walk away with your brand new smile after many more photos taken of course.

Once again the photos taken play a major role in determining if any adjustments are needed. At this point, they are minor adjustements. However, in pursuit of that engaging smile, we usually do make these detailed adjustments to achieve this. This is usually done after a week of 'test driving' the veneers to allow your lips, teeth and gums to get used to the new veneers.

dental veneers

Dental veneers are thin shells of porcelain or composite resin that are custom made to fit over teeth, providing a natural, attractive look. They can be used to fix chipped, stained, misaligned, worn down, uneven or abnormally spaced teeth.

Normal, locally made veneer is around RM2300.

Yes. We specialise in veneers and our dentist will be able to provide you with the necessary consultation to enhance your smile.

  1. The dentist will remove a small amount of the tooth surface to permit placement of the veneer.
  2. An impression is taken of the tooth and sent to the dental laboratory.
  3. The dental veneer is then made to fit the tooth and mouth.
  4. The veneer is bonded to the tooth with a cement.

Normal-A veneer takes at least two visits. The first is to prepare the tooth and match the shade, and the second is to fit the veneer.

High aesthetic veneer needs 3 visits. 1st visit is the mock up (smile design), 2nd visit is to prepare the tooth for the veneer, and 3rd visit is to fit the veneer.

It is important to resume regular brushing and flossing. Daily home care and regulating the intake of sugar containing food and drinks will increase the longevity of veneers. Right after getting veneers, you will have to be careful of your bite.

For the first few days some sensitivity can be felt. Therefore, extremely hot or cold food and beverages should be avoided. Sometimes the gums can feel tender after the anaesthesia wears off. Warm salt water rinse will help this. Temporarily speech may be affected too.

Also, with the veneer your bite and the way your teeth come together might feel different. It may take some time to get used to. Once done you will feel completely natural and more confident.

  • Veneers are significantly more resistant to staining, in fact, they are even more resistant to stains than natural teeth.
  • Veneers are more resistant to chipping and fracturing and can endure about the same stresses as natural teeth.
  • Porcelain, the material veneers are made of is extremely bio-compatible which means that there is minimal to no risk of gum problems arising.
  • Porcelain veneers can drastically change the look of your smile.
  • Veneer placement involves permanently removing tooth structure (approximately 0.5 mm) to make room for the porcelain.
  • Veneers more often than not have to be replaced if a fracture occurs.
  • Veneers are more costly than crowns.
