Most people may find that their teeth become sensitive to cold during or after the treatment. Others may have discomfort in the gums or occasional irritation in the gums. These symptoms are usually temporary and should disappear within a few days.

Teeth can be whitened by several methods:

  • In house/chair side (Bright Smile with Philip Zoom Whitening): 2 and half hour session. Gel is applied on the teeth and blue UV light is shone. Procedure involves 4 cycles of 20 minutes each. This costs RM1800.
  • Home kit (polanight) impression taken-tray is made-gel applied to tray-kept in mouth for 1 hour every night for 14 days. This costs RM 1100.

Whitening teeth is not permanent. The effects of whitening are thought to last up to 8 months to a year. However, this will vary from person to person. The effect is less likely to last as long if you smoke, or eat or drink products that can stain your teeth.
