CHILDREN’S DENTISTRY FAQS /

Treatment, Safety & Emergencies

This page explains how we manage dental treatment safely and gently, including care for anxious children and the use of sedation when needed. It provides clear guidance on handling dental emergencies such as toothaches, injuries, or knocked-out teeth. You will also find practical advice for parents on preparing children for dental visits and building positive dental experiences at home.

Treatment & Safety

No problem! Our Paediatric Dentists are trained in managing various behavioural issues, where we use gentle distraction techniques, positive reinforcement, and if needed, safe sedation options — always with your full understanding and consent.

Yes. When performed by trained professionals in a controlled setting, sedation and general anaesthesia are very safe. Your child’s comfort and safety come first.

Yes — we use an evidence-based, minimally invasive approach. Every treatment decision is made with your child’s best interests in mind.

What to do in an Emergency

Call us right away! We’ll advise you on what to do and arrange care quickly. If a tooth is knocked out, keep it in cold, fresh milk or your child’s own saliva, spat out into a clean container, and bring it with you.

For a knocked-out baby tooth: Don’t try to put it back in. Call us so we can check for damage to the adult tooth underneath.

For a knocked-out adult tooth: Time matters! Keep the tooth in cold, fresh milk or your child’s own saliva, spat out into a clean container, avoid touching the root. Give the clinic a call to speak to our Paediatric Dentist who can guide you on any first aid needed and get to us within 30 minutes if possible.

For a chipped tooth: Rinse the mouth with warm water, save any pieces you find, and contact us right away. We’ll assess the damage and recommend the best treatment.

Parental Guidance

Keep it positive! Talk about the dentist as a friendly helper. Picture books and role play can make it fun and familiar. There are some cartoons they can watch as well.

If your child has had a previous bad experience or is just extremely anxious, do contact us ahead of the appointment to let us know the specific circumstances of your child.

We will provide specific advice in preparing your child for their upcoming dental visit. Our Paediatric dentists are specially trained to address and manage children in such situations and can offer several options for managing the child’s dental care. Ultimately, we want to solve their dental issues and keep them happy.

It is alright if your child is anxious and fearful to start with. Our aim is to not only provide high quality dental care, but to do it in such a way that your child will eventually see and experience for themselves that dental visits are not a dreadful thing. Instead, we aim to develop a liking for meeting their dentist. This may seem rather impossible, but we have achieved this many times. Hence, consulting with a paediatric dentist brings forth so many benefits, for both the children and their parents.

When you see our Paediatric dentist, they not only make sure that your child’s visit is comfortable and that the dental treatment needed is done. Alongside carrying out any treatment your child might need, our specialists also focus on some subtle behavioural modification techniques to ensure that your child has a good experience and will eventually come around to be able to accept dental treatment without any fear and anxiety.

Encourage independence, but keep gentle reminders about brushing, flossing, and regular visits. Teens appreciate encouragement — even if they won’t admit it!

Play music, brush together, use sticker charts, or pick out colourful toothbrushes. Small things make a big difference!

A Happy Smile Starts with a Happy Experience

We’re here to make dental visits something your child can look forward to. Whether your little one is a giggler, a wiggler or a little nervous — we’ll meet them where they are, with patience, kindness, and we’ll be prepared to make it a positive experience for them.
